My Latest Watercolour Painting

I'm currently working on an article for my blog relating to "Simplifying" watercolour paintings. I feel this is something I need to work on as I love detail and I love to paint it. Sadly, it is not simple to paint something simply.
The painting above, Summer, required few washes but the washes had to be faultless for the idea to work.
We'll say my first attempt was just the practice, shall we!
The second attempt (below) was ruined in the first wash, having spent a great deal of time on the preparation stage. The paint was not flowing as well as it might so I used a spray bottle, filled with water, to help it on it's way. I've done this many, many times in the past to no ill effect but this time the spray left irrevocable marks on the paper and it had to be abandoned.

The third attempt had a fly wandering around in it's first wash!
I used a fly net to protect the washes that followed.
