2014's Painting of Poppies to commemorate the centenary of Armistice Day.
No other bloom conveys so much power
Remembrance of so many souls lost
Who fought and paid the ultimate cost
Gracing fields from the Somme to the Seine
A resilient character of country lanes
In English gardens, a scarlet punctuation
Brightening any dull and sandy situation
A symbol of hope, freedom and survival
A red poppy stands tall beside any rival
