Sunburst
Anyway, lately I've also been experimenting with painting loose washes, with the intention of using them as the basis for a painting at some stage in the future. In January it was my intention to paint a wash a day. That soon became "100 washes in a year" and is now down to just 52, one a week, and I'm finding that a challenge! This painting started life as one of those washes.
One of the most difficult aspects of painting in watercolour is not to overwork a painting. I found it hard to stop myself painting in every spike of the teasel "because I can". I once heard someone say "you know when you've finished a watercolour painting because it's ruined". Perhaps painting a detailed teasel will become one for my list.
If you like Sunburst you may also like Little Thief, a painting of a Blue Tit on a milk bottle and Spring, a Bullfinch on apple blossom.
