LIST OF WORKSHOPS
WINTER LANDSCAPES perhaps using tissue paper, inks and/or watercolour. Bare-branched trees show their shapes well in winter months. The days are shorter, making night scenes a must to paint at this time of the year. Snow scenes also come to mind during these cold winter months. ANCIENT ARCHITECTURE We are blessed, living in this part of the Country, to have an abundance of medieval buildings to draw inspiration from. SPRING FLOWER WORKSHOP Spring, a chance for new beginnings with fresh greens just showing in the bare earth. Snowdrops, cyclamen and hellebore's, daffodils, primroses, blossom and tulips – colour in abundance, at last. BIRDS, BEES AND OTHER ANIMALS A chance to paint the wildlife surrounding our towns and villages, here in Suffolk. SPRING LANDSCAPES Trees, in particular, although other favourites of mine at this time of year include bluebell woods, lanes lined with Cow Parsley, and Rape fields. Mixing colours, greens, in particular, is a common difficulty but this time of year provides us with a wide range of greens to emulate in paint. The landscape workshops cover the complete process of creating a watercolour landscape with emphasis on planning, drawing, tone, and colour mixing. EXPLORING TEXTURES For example, moss and lichen found in amongst bricks, flints and stonework in parts of buildings or ruins. SUMMER FLOWERS using Brusho and/or watercolour. Brusho® is a brilliantly intense paint which comes in powder form. It's water-based and completely non-toxic but it is very messy (when used as a powder) so we will be working outside! Please wear old clothes or bring something to cover the clothes you’re wearing, like an old shirt …or a boiler suit. Brusho® can also be used in the same way as traditional watercolour when mixed with water and this is not messy. SUMMER LANDSCAPES (possibly plein air, weather permitting)
Workshops have been held at Hedingham Castle and Brundon Mill. Seascapes or holiday destinations could also be included in this month's workshop. THE FLORA AND FORNA OF AUTUMN (it would be nice if we could include a short walk to gather subject matter, weather permitting). Then, using Quink Ink and/or watercolour, we will explore the ditches and verges of Suffolk where mushrooms, blackberries, rose hips and conkers, amongst other things, can be found at this time of year. AUTUMN LANDSCAPES Another chance to look at trees in detail as the colours change from the greens of summer to hot yellows, oranges and reds of all kinds. This time of year brings bonfires to mind as the leaves are swept and tidied up. |
CHRISTMAS THEMED WORKSHOP. We'll be painting pictures that can either be digitally printed or deliberately painted in card sizes, to use as personal Christmas cards for special friends and family members. Leave the mass-produced cards on the shelves this year.
WINTER SEED HEADS AND BERRIES which can be found in our fields and gardens at this time of the year. |
